On October 7th, the first 100% domestically produced large wind turbine, the latest offshore low wind speed prototype of Yuanyuan Energy, was launched in Yuanyuan Jiangsu Sheyang Zero Carbon Industrial Park. This series of models is fully upgraded based on the previous generation of low wind speed order king EN-226/8.5MW, leading low wind speed offshore products with a maximum wind wheel diameter of 252 meters, covering power levels of 10.5-12MW, helping customers obtain better electricity costs. It is expected to be delivered in bulk to the Qinzhou offshore wind power demonstration project of the State Power Investment Corporation of Guangxi in early 2024. Moreover, this series of new models is also the best model suitable for sea areas such as Jiangsu, Shandong, and Zhejiang.

According to calculations, the sweeping area of the offline model exceeds 4.7m ²/ KW, with a 25% increase in total power generation, typical scenarios estimate that the rate of return can increase by more than 10%. This model is equipped with fully self-developed core components such as a high torque gearbox, compact dry type transformer, and a new electrical transmission chain. Currently, 90% of the core components have completed bench testing and verification, and have successfully obtained complete machine type certification. Thanks to continuously improving self-developed core technology and 100% domestically produced supply chain support, performance and reliability have been comprehensively improved while effectively reducing costs and ensuring delivery flexibility.

The process of continuously achieving comprehensive localization of large wind turbines is not easy. How to connect the upstream and downstream of the supply chain? How to achieve information sharing and promote technological innovation? As the main supplier of the supply chain, the role of the complete machine supplier is crucial. Taking generators as an example, various models of generators in Yuanyuan Sea and Land have fully achieved self research and localization, and well-known domestic generator manufacturers have been selected for OEM production. By fully controlling the supply chain of components and dispatching supervision personnel to implement process requirements, we ensure that the same model produced by different manufacturers has no differences in design, interface, and power generation performance. As of now, Vision has delivered a total of over 10000 self-developed motors. Driven by the leading machine manufacturers, the resources and quality of the entire industrial chain have been aligned, and the confidence of the industrial chain has also been boosted, entering a virtuous cycle of supply and demand relations.

So, what has shaped the foundation for the comprehensive localization of large wind turbines? The answer is obvious. It comes from a profound insight into the logic and laws of the underlying technology. Through self research on large components, we have completed the core technology challenge and innovation. On the basis of solving the bottleneck problem, we ensure that the developed units can perform the performance that best matches the Chinese wind conditions. Vision was the earliest in the industry to open a black box for the design and manufacturing of large components, achieving complete independent intellectual property rights for core strategic components such as blades, gearboxes, generators, frequency converters, and pitch bearings, serving as a solid guarantee for 100% localization of large wind turbines. This offline model is equipped with a self-developed self extinguishing dry type transformer from Yuanyuan, which is smaller in size, higher in safety, and more convenient in operation and maintenance; And it adopts an E-TOP structure and innovative design of independent cabins, further improving safety and scalability.

The localization of wind power reflects the confidence of enterprises in R&D investment and solving bottleneck problems, as well as their comprehensive strength in technological innovation, testing and verification, engineering manufacturing, supply chain collaboration, and other aspects. From the establishment of the first offshore wind turbine in 2013 to the 100% localization of large wind turbines in 2023, it is a proof of the progress of Yuanyuan’s own strength, and it can also indirectly demonstrate that China’s wind power manufacturing industry and green technology level have stood tall in the waves like offshore large wind turbines.
