The PR6424/000-131+CON031  is a non-contact Hall effect speed/proximity sensor manufactured by EPRO (now part of Emerson) in Germany. It is specifically designed for speed measurement and proximity detection in critical rotating machinery (steam turbines, gas turbines, water turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.) and is widely used in TSI (Turbine Monitoring and Protection Systems), such as the EPRO MMS 3000 / MMS 6000 systems.

Standards Compliant with: API 670, DIN 45670, ISO 10817-1

Working Principle:

Triggering: Gear rotation → Tooth/groove alternately passes the sensor → Magnetic field change → Differential Hall element sensing → DSP digital processing → Comparison with reference threshold → Push-pull output high/low level switching → The rectangular pulse output sensor head has two built-in Hall elements forming a differential half-bridge, which is extremely sensitive to changes in the magnetic field. When the soft magnetic/steel toothed disc passes by, the magnetic field is locally enhanced, and the Hall voltage difference increases; when the tooth groove passes by, the magnetic field weakens, and the Hall voltage difference decreases. The internal DSP digitally processes the Hall voltage difference value and drives the push-pull output stage to switch quickly after comparing it with a preset reference value. Zero speed measurable: The Hall effect is a static magnetic field effect. Even at extremely low speeds or zero speeds, as long as the tooth is in a specific position, a stable level can be output—this is a core advantage over magnetoelectric sensors. Typical Application Scenarios Table Application Area Specific Uses Steam Turbine/Gas Turbine Speed Monitoring, Overspeed Protection (Overspeed Trip) Water Turbine Speed Measurement and Frequency Tracking Compressor/Pump/Fan Speed Monitoring, Start/Stop Detection TSI System in conjunction with MMS 3000/6000 monitoring and protection system, connected to MMS6312 speed monitoring board, etc. Engine ECU speed signal input Industrial Automation Valve position feedback, robotic arm motion control

  Installation Points

The probe axis must be perpendicular to the end face of the gear plate to ensure maximum magnetic field variation.

Strictly control the installation gap (m=1 gear ≤1mm, m≥2 gears ≤1.5mm). Excessive gap will cause signal loss.

Use shielded cable, keep away from power cables, and avoid electromagnetic interference.

It is recommended to check probe cleanliness, cable connections, and linearity every 6 months.

The PR6424/000-131+CON031 is a classic Hall effect speed sensor in the EPRO TSI system, known for its zero-speed measurability, high anti-interference capability, wide temperature range, and IP66 protection. It is the preferred solution for speed monitoring of critical rotating equipment such as steam turbines and compressors.
