  Main Functions

  1. Shipboard Telephone (Intercom)

Internal Point-to-Point Communication: Intercommunication between the bridge, engine room, control room, steering gear room, pump room, deck, and crew quarters. Some models support one-button calling of designated workstations.

Group Call/Shipwide Broadcast Call: One-button calling of all stations for emergency notifications and work scheduling. Models designed for noisy environments, including the engine room, feature a strong ringing sound and a high sound pressure level speaker.

Noise-Resistant Communication: Noise reduction and sound pickup even in noisy environments, ensuring clear voice communication.

Emergency Communication: In the event of a power outage, some models can be powered by backup batteries, allowing communication even in the event of a fire or main power failure.

Waterproof and Explosion-proof: Deck and hazardous area models are IP waterproof; explosion-proof models are available for oil tankers, suitable for use in hazardous compartments.

Alarm System Integration: Can be integrated with fire alarms and engine room alarms; alarm triggers automatically call the corresponding personnel.

  2. Marine Satellite Telephone (External Use)

Global Ocean Voice Communication: In coastal waters without mobile phone signal, it allows communication with land-based telephones, mobile phones, and other vessels via marine satellite.

Short Message Service (SMS): Sends and receives text messages for simple message delivery.

Distance Priority Communication: Distress alarms have the highest priority; network priority ensures distress calls.

  Typical Application Scenarios

Bridgehouse-Engine Room Communication: Transmission of main engine control, standby, gear shifting, and reversing commands; critical communication between the engine room and the bridge.

Deck Operations: Loading/unloading, anchoring, and mooring operations; communication between deck personnel and the bridge and control room.

Hazardous Compartments: Pump rooms and oil tank areas; explosion-proof marine telephones are used; ordinary mobile phones are strictly prohibited.

Ship Emergency Scenarios: Fire, flooding, mechanical failure, main power grid failure; emergency communication maintained by backup power.

Ocean-going Vessel External Communication: Ocean-going cargo ships, fishing vessels, and research vessels, far from the coast where there is no cellular signal, use satellite shipboard phones to communicate with shore-based companies and families.

Platforms and Offshore Engineering: Offshore oil platforms; internal intercom systems; voice communication between the platform and the ship.

Maritime Regulatory Requirements: The SOLAS Convention mandates that ships be equipped with reliable onboard telephones to ensure navigational safety.
